"The difference between a dream and a goal...is the deadline you set" Antonio Martez, a @Sleepis4Suckers follower on TwitterI love finding inspiration on Twitter. It's so good sometimes I think to myself, hey why didn't I think of that? I saw the above quote last night, and it took me to a place to where I was made aware of my own short comings. Am I just dreaming, or am I goal setting with the intentions of achieving them?
We all have dreams, but a dream is something that happens when we sleep (you know how we feel about sleep). How can we achieve something by just thinking of it while we are laying there dormant? Sometimes we don't even attempt to achieve them because we feel like it's impossible because it's something that our subconscious made up. The only reason why it is impossible to achieve is because we have labeled it as a "dream" instead of a goal. When we have a goal, we set them with intentions to reach them. We even give ourselves a time frame, which puts our feet to the fire in order to achieve what we set out to do. So I had to ask myself, if the things I wanted out of life were a dream or a goal? If in fact it was a goal (which unfortunately it wasn't), is the goal big enough or am I just selling myself short? These are some of the things that you have to be aware of when planning for your future. I believe before I read that tweet my saying was "My dream job is to be a fashion editor for American Vogue", and now, after this epiphany, I'm going to replace the word "dream" with the word "goal". It makes it sound more realistic, like it is something that I am working toward and being proactive about. It even makes me feel less intimidated. Dreaming is passive, and if that's the way you want to live your life then go ahead. However, if you want to be aggressive in life, then set goals, set them high, and reach them. It's the best service that you can do for yourself.
