If It Ain't Broke, Break it

Do you ever wonder why things aren't happening to you the way you planned? From the outside it seems as if you should have it all, but when you look at your accomplishments you barely have anything to show. Well then that means there's something in your life that needs to be broken. I'm sure you all have heard the saying "if it ain't broken then don't fix it", but sometimes if it ain't broke then it may need to be broken.

I received this message at church today, and at first when I heard the title I was in doubt of what direction the sermon was going in. However, five minutes in, I quickly began to change my opinion. The thing is that we all have a calling that we are meant to fulfill in life, like writing, singing, starting a business, or teaching for some of us. Once we know what our purpose is it is up to us to do the necessary work needed to get there. If we aren't where we want to be in life but we are putting in the work and everything seems to be in place, then there is a HUGE problem. Part of our responsibility is to go beyond observation and investigate to see what that problem is. As a part of life there are things that we must grow out of if we want to grow up. Just because it seems to be working in our lives right now doesn't mean it will work with the life we are meant to have. For example, if you were to conduct an investigation on your life, and the choices and actions you make or the people you surround yourself with now does not mix well with what you want for yourself in the future, then you will need to break it; Even if it does not appear to be broken it still needs breaking. Bad habits, unnecessary friendships, and other things that aren't in line with our calling that could hold us back need to be given the boot in order for us to move forward. It may be difficult to break away from complacency, but the habits and people that we leave behind will be replaced with something that will better aid us in what we are set out to accomplish.

But on the other hand, if we believe that we are perfect and nothing we do deserves to be broken then we are denying ourselves the opportunity to face our rightful destiny. I definitely don't want that to happen, so I will be doing some soul-searching and praying tonight. Remember that your steps are already ordered. It is your job to follow the path already laid out for you.
