Retraining Your Brain

It's safe to say that the most successful people have a certain way of thinking. They are witty, come up with great ideas, and turn those ideas into successful business ventures. A lot of people have mentors who are successful because it seems like they have a natural intelligence. Little do we know, it wasn't always so natural for them. Once they decided they wanted to be successful they had to reprogram their minds and change the way their brains worked. If you want to flourish and take your life to the next level you must learn how to pay attention to details, form better work habits, and not take no for an answer. None of those points seem profound, but those aren't traits that everyone is born with. Everyone who has a thriving career had to be taught those things in order to get where they are now.

There are many things that make up successful people; however, the most basic three that everyone seems to have are attention to detail, good work ethic, and determination. Someone who says they pay great attention the detail are very meticulous. It's a trait that everyone wants in a CEO because they are responsible for the well being of a company. They can't afford to make mistakes or to let things get overlooked and fall into the cracks. Some people aren't blessed to be born with this trait, but that doesn't mean you can't obtain it. Just by taking your time, reading the small print, and demanding perfect results will allow you to be thorough in all that you do, no matter if it's your personal life or business life.

Along with being detail oriented, you must have a suburb work ethic to go with it. That means teaching yourself not to be lazy. Don't take shortcuts in the work that you do and half-ass things. Half-assing never makes for a good anything. This retraining is actually taught to us in school when we are told to do homework and create outlines and study guides in order to prepare for tests. On the contrary, though everyone is taught this, it doesn't mean everyone picks it up and uses it in their everyday life. It is important that we take those bad work habits (procrastination, disorganization, and tardiness) and do the exact opposite. That means doing things before the last minute, always know where everything is at all times, and being punctual and prepared. No one ever got far with a bad work ethic, and if your work ethic is not where it should be, then it's time to reteach yourself better habits.

You can have the best work ethic in the world, but if you don't believe in your dream then you may as well throw up the white flag and give up. The most absolute important thing that you have to do when retraining your brain is to BELIEVE that failure is not an option. Nothing else matters when compared to that. You can have everything that you could possibly need to reach your goals, but if you don't believe it or think it will work then you are never going to get there. If you are having a hard time thinking positive try some positive self talk. Look in the mirror and say good things like "I can do it" or "failure is not an option", and say it with conviction. It may sound corny, but it will work. Just keep saying good things to yourself until you actually believe it. By just saying it and putting it out there it will create positive energy around you, and the next time you feel unsure about something just repeat those words and make yourself believe it. Eventually, you will have instilled that way of thinking instilled in you, and failure won't be an option.
